For all new members from the ARA, please post your password here for verification of your rank to be transferred over to GJA. Remember that you are temporarily queued until you are verified, and then your rank will be upgraded appropriately. I won't be on the board all of the time due to other responsibilities, but you should receive a response within 24 hours, usually much sooner. Welcome to the GJA!:D

Well, whenever it pleases you..;)

It's OK, Monstro. Jeriddian and I are on-line now, so don't worry - you're not all alone!
BTW, welcome to the GJA! And don't worry about leaving EP alone; he brought that punishment on himself with his tyrannical administrative style. He can rattle around by himself in the ARA for all I care.

If you came over and were an active member of the Fourms we came from... you were given a long password in an email... placing that password here would carry your post stats and rank over from the old fourms to this one.

Finally, finally, finally! I finally found my way over to this forum, and, after some assistance, am now able to say that my password is KH3678105! It was getting lonely over at the other location, and since I had long given up checking my mail over there, it was a while before I finally got the messages and caught on to where everone had gone:o
Anyway, I look forward to reading the postings and conversing with all the KP fan folks again, some of whom I've known from the original forum on TVTome! Thanks to jerridian and the others for carrying the fan base on forward!

Glad to have you aboard!

Thanks, GreenMandmz, for the welcome! I haven't had much to say so far, but I'll monitor the forum daily, to see how things are progressing. I guess I was the last "refuge" from the old forum - periodic checks indicate that it hasn't had any activity since 10/5.

That's probably around the time EP converted the forum to "read only." I've been IP Banned (now there's four words I thought I'd never type), so I can't even see it any more.

I can still log on and view it, but like you, I can't post there anymore. I wonder how long before old EP gives up and pulls the plug on the ARA? He's got to be bored senseless, what with the lack of activity over there.

My impression is that since he's not using any more memory than what he's given for free, it doesn't cost him anything to just let it sit. I think he's just ignoring it and not even nothering to go back and check it anymmore now that he's made sure nobody else will post on it. He'll just forget about it and let it sit like that forever.

Well, he hasn't visted the site since 10/18, so I think ARA is D.O.A.

...Maturin stepped away for the operating field and let the surgical techs clear the blanket away from the victim's chest. The pads were quickly affixed at the lower left side just under the breast and at the top of the sternum.
The wires were attached.
"Charge to 60 joules."
Three seconds.
"Okay- CLEAR!"
Everyone stepped back from the OR table, hands raised.
Baaaaachoooka!
The body jumped off the table about an inch as the charge convulsed her muscles momentarily.
"Still V-Fib! Charge to 120 joules. One mg epinephrine, now!"
One of the nurses reached into the crash cart and pulled the box out. Rapidly she whipped out a syringe and removed the needle. She deftly cannulated it into one of the central line ports and pushed the liquid adrenaline all the way in.
"Charge ready."
"CLEAR!"
Another shock was given. Again the girl's body convulsed.
Maturin looked at the monitor. She had been in rough fibrillation rhythm. Momentarily she went back into sinus tach, but it soon degenerated back into another unstable rhythm.
"One more epi!"
It was given.
"300 joules this time."
The machine charged up.
"CLEAR!"
Once more the girl's body convulsed. They waited anxiously as the monitor vitals came back online.
“Maturin, she’s hanging by a thread!”
“Well, don’t let her go asystole!” he shouted back, turning to the crash cart, “I don’t know if it’s possible for her system to take it!”
Behind him, doctors gasped.
As he whipped around, the histrionic ECG fell into one long, loud, flat unbroken scream.
“S***!” Maturin yelled.
“Jolt her again, sir?” asked the defib nurse quickly.
“Not recommended… Too many charges in her body already. CPR!”
Anticipating this, another unscrubbed nurse was already in motion. She grabbed a mechanized cardiorespiratory device from a wall rack.
Maturin and the other sterile doctors stepped away as nurses moved in. They snaked the machine under the life support lines and passed it under the victim's back. Wrapping the cuff over the defibrillator pads and around her chest, one punched the start button. Instantly the cuff began tightening and relaxing, squeezing her heart at an optimum eighty beats a minute.
This continued for three minutes.
“All right…” said Maturin, breathing very deliberately, “Let’s try shocking her again.”
“Amp of epi in and flowing!”
“Right, charge to 400 joules. This might be our last shot.”
A technician switched off the AutoPulse and backed away as the defib nurse yelled, “CLEAR!”
Baaaachhherrrka!
The victim's body writhed, back arching. The electric charge snapped her eyelids open, revealing her eyes, clouded, blank, and unfocused.
As the surge died, the lids fell shut. Her frame slumped.
For a single wild, grasping, groping moment, everything hung frozen, like the last instant of flight before gravity takes over.
Then it all came crashing down. The victim's body continued to slump, now more like a slop of grey-pink rubber than a human being. The piercing monotone shriek went on and on and on, boring into Marturin's eardrums, until he twitched slightly from actual pain. Feeling the bottom of his stomach dropping to somewhere in the vicinity of his knees, he limply let his arms flop to his sides. He had stuffed his fingers into his hair in overwhelming burst anxiety and anticipation. Marturin stared numbly at his gloved fingertips, realizing he had just destroyed sterility.
Like it matters now.
The battle unhinged, the warriors of life stared hollowly, mute, down at their comrade in mortality.
"...A Pronouncement?" The two soft, gentle, pained words, from the anesthesiologist, shattered the air with the sharp crudeness of a gunshot.
And still the electric scream went on.

A wee bit dramatic, perhaps, but yes, that pretty much sums it up. Thank goodness we have GJA, or I'd really be bummed out with a double loss - KP (new KP episodes, that is) and ARA. Nice dramatization, though, F & 'C 77!
