Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Spoilers!)

The last of the Harry Potter books. What did you think?

Deathly Hallows became my favorite HP book after I read it, replacing Order of the Phoenix. Chapter 34 was extremely sad, the most emotion part for me in the whole series. The Epilogue was a different writing style and a bit sappy, but Harry deserves sappy after all he's been through.

I have to admit I haven't read the books, just seen the movies, mainly becasue fo time constraints. :rolleyes: But the more and more I hear about this last book, I am thinking of picking the series up and reading it. That's also because I hear the movies are quite different from how the books are.:P

They are, with the possible exception of the first and second movies. The books are really good, although Sorcerer's Stone is hard to get into. My favorites are as follows:
Deathly Hallows
Order of the Phoenix
Prisoner of Azkaban
Half Blood Prince
Chamber of Secrets
Goblet of Fire
Sorcerer's Stone

I'm re-reading Deathly Hallows. Some parts, especially the talk about how wand ownership works, were confusing at first but became more understandable after taking the time to think it out.

The latest Potter book was a very good read, up until the conclusion. After all Harry's turmoil, problems, and anxiety, it all raps up with, "I was willing to die so instead you (Voldemort) die because you have no empathy. Like Brown's ending to his best seller, I had the feeling she was just tired of the whole thing and wanted to end it.:oh well:

I really liked the conclusion. It was quite interesting how Harry's sacrifice saved him, just as Lily's sacrifice saved him. Harry tried, in the end, to make Voldemort feel remorse because it was the only way Voldemort could save his soul (or make it one again, as said by Hermione in the beginning), and Harry is the kind of person who would give someone a second chance. He even told Voldemort that his attempt to kill him would fail, and Voldemort, because of his arrogance, did not listen. I think it says a lot for Harry's character that he never used the Killing Curse to defeat Voldemort, or to kill anyone else.

That whole sacrifice bit was quite religion based, if you think about it.

I thought it was really good... Up to the epilogue. I'll probably like it more when I get a chance to re-read the book, but from the first reading it was a little off-putting. It just felt really odd to go from seven books of misery to sugar-coated happiness.

I was a bit thrown off by the change in style as well, but I can see why she did it. If I was Harry, I'd definitely want a normal, happy life after all of that war and misery. It's well earned, for him.

I'm getting this image of J.K. Rowling staring blankly at her harshly-glowing computer screen at three in the morning, bags under her eyes and hair disheveled, and suddenly she sits up with a jolt and starts typing furiously, saying, "Ah, hell with it! I'm still gonna make millions!"

The weird thing is, Deathly Hallows inspired me to write Harry Potter fan fiction, just not about that. :laugh: A completely different time-frame, actually.
