View Full Version : Joss Possible - redhead or brunette?

Reading cpneb's "Blue Eyes, Shining," I noticed a detail the seemed to strike out at me - his description of Joss as a redhead.

Why did I notice this? Because to me, it seems that Joss is a brunette.

Looking at some screencaps, it seems Kim's Montanan cousin has something of reddish-brown hair, meaning either interpretation might be valid?

So what do you think? Methinks this might be another one of the Great Mysteries/Debates of Kim Possible? (Mrs. Dr. P's name, what Shego keeps in her pocket and now this .... ;) )

Looking at the screen caps I would say she is more of a brunette. However, she does have a hint of red in her hair, and alot of writers over on ff.net give her a red hair description.

So, I would say she has a darker red hair composition. (Compared to Kim)

Cp, buddy, you just got mentioned! How does it feel? (lol)

I think it's just reddish-brown hair. It looks more brown than red, so saying she's a brunette is pretty accurate.

Depending on the screen-caps you view, Joss is either a redhead, a reddish-brown brunette, or brownish-red.
Also, depending on the scree-caps, Joss has blue eyes, green eyes, greenish-blue, blueish-green, or ice-blue eyes.

Quality control aside, I went with what seemed to make sense to me, and what Wade's first impressions: a fiery-haired ice-blue-eyed young woman flying through the air on her rope gun who had, in one image, captured his heart forever.

That was my logic and understanding....
Also, as Wade learns throughout the JadeKimVerse stories, her hair must be red, given that her disposition (and temper!) is so much like Kim's!

Hope this helps, as you peek inside the mind of a writer (a frightening place to be, but I serve cookies on the tour).

Really? Her eyes are that many different colors? I'm going to have to check on that myself.

Since my copy of SatCD is on DVD, I've always gone by that, and with that she's got medium brown hair and turquoise eyes. What I have mentioned in my fics though is that when she was 15-16 she looked enough like Kim to be easily mistaken for her.

I think alot of people like the idea that Joss will look like Kim when she gets older, and I just happen to be one of those people.

As Mike I can attest, it's a woman's perogative to change hern hair color, and that's drifted down in age range, I've seen in that nasty world we call 'real life,' down into the teens and tweens.

As I'm certain you've also notices, Commander, people's eye color changes, given attire, lighting, and age changes. Why, even Kim's green becomes more brilliant as she gets angrier with Ron (that's how he knows to head for the hills or become the distraction for her anger).

Anyhoo, back on topic here, I've noticed Kim's eyes get brighter when she is happy or giving Ron that look. So cp, are you suggesting that Joss does the same thing?

Gee, I dunno: lucky guess? :innocent::harhar::thumbup:
She's a Possible, right? What do you think? This isn't limited to them: after 22 years, I've learned when to hold and when to fold and, even more importantly, when to RUN!

I think Joss is a brunette. Her hair is clearly darker than Kim's; and it's closer in color to her father's (Uncle Slim). Slim's hair is brown, like Kim's dad. Kim gets her red hair from her mother's side of the family.

In my JadeKimVerse, Slim's wife, Sheri Nicole Possible (who was killed), was a redhead....

Okay; but we're talking about the "official" Kimverse here. The question is whether the KP Krew intended Joss to be a redhead or brunette.

Yeah but neb, if we just base it on what info the show gives to us, Slim's hair is brown, and for all we know, her mother's could be brown... But I'm still for the idea of Red/brown mix.

Sorry, the original question was in relation to my stories in the JadeKimVerse, I interpreted, which I have enclosed within the JadeKimVerse to differentiate it from the "pure" KimVerse from the show: you have to look at both of them in the same frame:

http://caps.kpfanworld.com/veiw_pic.php?av=201-300&ep=showdown_at_the_crooked_d&pic=0235.jpg

http://caps.kpfanworld.com/veiw_pic.php?av=301-400&ep=showdown_at_the_crooked_d&pic=0325.jpg

to see that there is, indeed, a darker shade of hair color on Joss. Is that a darker red or brown: that's up to interpretation. My interpretation was that it was a darker red, more red than brown, and that and the eye color reseach became part of the basis for my JadeKimVerse.

That, and the two questions that I have as an analyst by trade:
What happened to Joss' mom? and
Why won't Wade leave his room?

Great minds, and all that..I'm glad to see this much to-do over Joss (as is she!); this time last year, no one was interested in her, and it seemed that no one cared, to her!

I'm hoping for that same buzz to start up in another 6-8 months for The Girl in Blue (Sarah Janine Best, in the JadeKimVerse: she has no name in the KimVerse).

Thanks for noticing, jeriddian. The most annoying thing is that Joss is not listed as one of the characters as a selection option in the FF.net dropdown; as a result, I can't even tell you how many stories in which she's the main character. It's bad enough that, when you search Wade, you found fewer than 10 selections when I started last year out of over 3500 stories at that time; I decided to bump up that number single-handedly.

btw, 'nebster appears when I quote from someone who's quoted me: what's up with that, jeriddian? someone messin' with my mind?

Joss is primarily a supporting character, if mentioned at all, in fics. I was not able to find one where she, and Wade, take a primary role throughout the stories, and I decided to change that. The result is nowhere near the readership of the pure K/R or KiGo 'shippers, but the readers I have seem to enjoy it, based on the numbers of reviews I've received over the past year.

To be honest, I expected, at most, no more than 50 reviews in a year and to have only about 5 stories, at the most. That's not the case: I don't have the market penetration of a captainkodak1 or Zaratan or Commander Argus, but I've got a good niche market of fans, and some have been rabid in their requests for more. The JadeKimVerse's relative popularity has even resulted in its own 'spinoff': the DefineHellVerse, a different view of the world if Drakken had finally gone 'over the edge' and done a few things differently with the 'Diablos gambit.'

I'm glad Joss has become more popular with the KP community. Joss is one of my favorite characters, and I wanted to start a fic about her as the main character. I only have maybe half of one chapter done (Written in my notebook) but I am trying my best.

'nebster, is way better than 'nebulizer, so i can't complain, jerridian. I didn't realized we could do this...it leaves open all sorts of 'Possibilities,' does it not?

And, Joss won't go for "The Big J:" too droll. She prefers 'Queen Jocelyn the First' or (don't tell her I told you) 'Sweet Tea.' It's part of the JadeKimVerse back story: while in London when she was very young, she loved tea time, and the cubes of sugar...she wanted 'sweet tea' every time, and it stuck with her Mom and Slim. She'll tell you she hates it, but it reminds her of her mother, so she really likes it.

Her hair color, and eye color, seemed to vary during different parts of the episode. I am not sure whether it is just my TV set or the way it was done in the animation. I sort of pictured her with dark red hair, kind of like the coat on a Morgan horse. A friend of mine has hair like that and it's quite striking.

Kim seems more on the medium to lighter portion of the scale for red hair, while her mother is pretty solidly in the middle. As was mentioned lighting, background, clothing and how the hair is worn will influence it's appearance.

It's not your TV; it's the animation. From an earlier thread, I wrote about Joss (I had to do this analysis 'old-school' watch the episode real-time and take quick notes, but I went back and validated this using wallaceb's screencaps):

Depending on the screen-caps you view, Joss is either a redhead, a reddish-brown brunette, or brownish-red.
Also, depending on the screen-caps, Joss has blue eyes, green eyes, greenish-blue, blueish-green, or ice-blue eyes.
My opinion is that she received no special review as she was a one-time character: a 'speaking throwaway,' so to speak, and would never re-appear. They never took into account crazed FanFiction writers, like m'oi.

Quality control aside, I went with what seemed to make sense to me, and what Wade's first impressions: a fiery-haired ice-blue-eyed young woman flying through the air on her rope gun who had, in one image, captured his heart, forever.

Kim, as the protagonist, as well as Mrs. Dr. P, got massive scrutiny on almost everything; they did miss on the navals, though, and finally dropped that detail in Season 4 (except in the opening credits).
