So, what did everybody think? I liked it, though the dialog with all the talk of scenario this and that began to wear a bit. I'm not sure how it will stand up to repeated viewings.

In the intro, when the puma turned on Ron, I was half expecting his "barely a man" line to talk about some problem at his bris, rather than his bar mitzvah.

The scenario thing is pretty standard with that group. But I also think it a little contrived. For al the RPG's out there, as far as I'm concerned, there is no comparison to the original AD&D, when it is operated by a master DM, as I have been privileged to be a part of such a game for the last twenty eight years. There are no "scenarios". There is only the life of your alter ego, and the adventures he or she has played. If the DM is true master of his craft, they will be almost as memorable as real life. It's a shame I hardly get any time any more to play.

But I liked the episode. The Ronster was his usual self, trying to be responsible with Hana, and utterly able to be convinced to go for ice cream anyway. He can't keep a secret worth a hoot, of course. Just the usual Ron stuff.:P Kim, of course, is just trying to cope with it all, to save cousin Larry without everything else getting destroyed or anybody else hurt.

It was interesting that it was actually Larry who saved the day, and in Kim's battle suit. I'm more surprised the battle suit was in working condition. We get to meet Aunt June for the first time. She appears to be her father's sister., and about what I would expect for Larry's mother.

@Campy - what did you mean by "bris"?

So it was not a really serous episode. It was a little silly and played more for laughs, I think, which was cool.:)

I could of died! and almost did.... from laughing. That was hands down the best episode with larry in it ever in my books.

Nice to see the battle suit again.. but not to nit pick but they really got the blue off... way off from StD. It way to bright, but good to see it again. Kurt told me we'd see it again but I dont think he said when. It was a nice suprise.

It annoyed me that Kim now has a full-size grappling gun... in her watch. I know you have to suspend belief somewhat to enjoy the show, but really... :dubiety:

Best line, hands down: "We're gonna need a bigger boat... and some water."

One of Charlotte's comments was a nice call-back (call forward?) to "ASiT." You could fill an entire website just with all the in-references the KP franchise has made.

....Oh, right. :P

Sorry to say it, but this definitely isn't among my favorite season four episodes. The writing and the general flow of the episode just didn't feel up to snuff. The "scenario 19" twist at the end with Larry in the battlesuit made up for the entire thing, though. :D

I saw that coming once Dementor and the rest were unable to locate the supersuit, but it was still fun anyway. :D

We get to meet Aunt June for the first time. She appears to be her father's sister., and about what I would expect for Larry's mother.
And if Larry is roughly the same age as Kim, we've finally gotten ages pinned down - Kim, Ron, and Larry are 19.

(And, unfortunately, my very first thought after that was "Whooo! Kim and Ron are both legal!" ...Which was immediately followed by my higher functions whacking my pituitary around several times with a shovel. :P)

No. I would have to disagree with that. The ep says Larry is 19, not Kim or Ron. I think Kim and Ron are 18, and that Ron is a little younger than Kim (possibly even 17 for Ron), but that's just my guess. But there is no information in this ep or anywhere else that specifically says Kim and Ron are 19 years old at this time.

In fact, 19 years of age is a little old for graduation from high school for most kids, and for someone as as smart as Kim, she would not have ever been held back a grade. Now Larry is another matter. As smart as he is, his lack of interaction in the real world may have presented some socializing difficulties that may have posed some difficulties in progressing through school. but I don't recall anything being said that he was still in high school. He could very well be a freshman in college.

Yeah, It's tough to guess the exact age when neither of the main charaters have had a birthday episode... but jeriddian right... 17-18 sounds way closer... all depends on the month of there birthday I guess.:errr:

Kim and Ron went through driver's ed in their sophomore year, i.e. Pre ASiT, so that means that they were 15 at that time. The series covers a two-year span, meaning by the end of senior year they must me 17 at least.

Also, look at the parents. I see them like this: JT Possible: 45, Mrs. Dr P closer to 42: it seems unlikely, given they both have doctorates, that they had kids before they were 24, and Mr. Dr. Possible just seems older than his wife. Aunt June may be older than JT, but she could also have started sooner; her personality screams old-fashioned housewife, and they don't traditionally wait too long to have kids. I'd say that if she's a Possible, then the order is James, Slim, June. If she's just married to Jim and Slim's unseen brother, all bets are off.

Of course, it could be that June is Slim's ex, but that just muddies the waters. I can't see Joss and Larry as 100% siblings. They could have different mothers, though... no, just too far out.

I haven't noticed anyone comment on the intro yet. It looks to me as if they've solved one burning question: Ron's house is right next door to Kim's.

Dementor's Teutonicized English was as funny as ever, Ron was uberRonnish (but in a good way), and Kim was incredibly fallible but likable (her reaction to being with Larry and her manipulation of Ron).

Overall, this was a very funny episode.

Larry could be one of those kids whose parents thought he was too small to start school at a regular time, had his birthday in May, or been held back a year in early grades because of his inattention: I picture Larry as someone with serious attention-span and socialization issues as a youth who retreated to games and books as his refuge.

Then again, I'm one to fill in the backgrounds so I can understand the characters, and this seems to make sense to me.

We know from "Monkey Fist Strikes" that Larry never has friends over (because he's the dweebiest guy on the planet), hence Family Game Night. Although by "Steal Wheels" he's getting together with other gamers, though that could have been online. I figure June pressured James to force Kim to spend some time with him so at least there'd be someone.

There's no reason I can see to assume he's in high school or college or that his age has to be within some interval of Kim's for this to work.

Everyone stop talking about this episode until I get a chance to watch it! ;)

Well, last night I was doubly, if not triply, thwarted in my efforts to watch this ep.

I'm on vacation (not saying exactly where :P ), and where I am the digital schedule said KP would come on at 7. So, I wait until 7, only to look a little bit feore than to see that it's been preempted by Hanna Montana and that KP will be on at 10. Remembering the "Big Bother/Harry Potter" debacle not too long ago, I wait until 7 to see what will happen. 7 o'clock rolls around, and it's the Hanna Montana intro (live action tween crowd screaming - obviously not Kim Possible). So, I resolve to wait until 10 to see Larry's Birthday. By 10, not only do I find out that my hotel doesn't get the Disney Channel (despite getting numerous other cable channels), but the digital schedule channel says that KP is not on at 10 anyways.

And now I found out that I seem to be the only person who got preempted when it comes to Larry's Birthday. So, my only options are wait until it comes out on iTunes, hope it comes on DxD or wait until the half-hour before "Graduation". :ohwell:

I enjoyed the episode. Funny that they pulled the "he married the boss's sister" bit with that dweebish henchman.

It would all depend on whenever their birthdays happen to be, I guess, and what the situation was when they entered kindergarten. I have a birthday in April, and I entered kindergarten a year later than "normal." I will be entering Senior year as 18 and leaving it in May as 19. Ron, like Larry, has some social issues, albeit less pronounced, although they might have been more noticeable at an earlier age, and he might have started kindergarten a year later. As for Kim, she could've very well been off-the-wall ("...No babysitter alive could handle you... Not that we could find anyone willing to try after a certain point."), and her parents might have waited a year.

Of course, this is all very up-in-the-air, and the chances of all three of them waiting a year for kindergarten are somewhat slim.

I should point out that I was somewhat socially inept (more on the level of Ron than Larry, mind you), and yet I graduated with the Class of 1992, at age 17, after skipping to 1st grade after just two months of Kindergarten.

My thoughts on seeing Larry in the battle suit: "He's what - the third person to put it on, besides Kim? That suit's got to be stretched w-a-y out of shape by now. How could any of those guys (Ron, Dementor, Larry) possibly fit into a suit designed and tailored for someone who's taller and slimmer then they are?"
I also hope Larry washes the suit before giving it back to Kim... :P

The introduction of Aunt June (is she Mr. Dr. P's sister or sister-in-law?) raises a thought. I'm wondering if the person in the screen cap featuring Kim's family grouped together for her graduation in the promo is the third Possible brother.

I think she's Mr. Dr. P.'s sister. We've only seen Possible siblings on the series; no in-laws. Example: In "Showdown at the Crooked D", we met Uncle Slim and Cousin Joss, but not Joss's mom (Slim's wife). Maybe Uncle Slim and Aunt June are both widowed? Just a thought...

Based purely on Monkey Fist Strikes, I established Aunt June as being Mrs Dr P's sister in my fics. Fortunately, despite searching Middleton with James, there's nothing to contradict that in Larry's Birthday.

Still, I'm really leaning toward her being from the Possible side of the family now.

Did anyone else think that Charlotte sounded a lot like the girl in Ron's health class? The one who first drew the face on Sacky in "Big Bother"?

Campy, I thought that the voice sounded a bit familiar...I sense a plot bunny with a new love interest for Larry!

Finally got to see this one, right after the finale. If memory serves, she kind of looks like the flour sack girl, as well.
Larry certainly functions in his own frame of reference, kind of reminds me of the two guys who were in one of my physics classes. They ended up failing the class because they spent the labs working on space ships for some Star Wars role playing game rather than the experiments. As Mr. Miyagi might put it, one must have balance. This made the whole bit with Larry being deluded that Demontor's scheme was some sort of special birthday surprise that Kim had set up for him even funnier.

That's OK; we've all had our moments "in another frame of reference" at one time or another. My first year of college was in the fall of '77, right after the first "Star Wars" film came out. I got to discussing the movie with one of my classmates so much in our afternoon art class that the instructor frequently had to ask us to be quiet. :P

Sort of like going on a week long field trip into remote areas and discovering that most girls aren't as enamored with Monty Python as most guys are...

One of my closest friend's older son pulls kind of a Larry: we came in from fishing one evening and he started telling us about doing some really bizarre things in cars, which was intersting since he doesn't have a license and has never taken driver's ed (he's 20). Turned out he was talking about a video game. He's also prone to give out sweeping statments on topics military based on various shooters he plays (I want to see the semi that follows the characters around with all those extra weapons and ammunition, either that or the titanium hernia truss that the characters wear).

Never forget the guy who walks right behind the hero, handing him the gears, reloading his weapons, holding and reading the radar...
The funniest thing I came to read was "when the assault rifle was invented warfare became more about running around and killing as many people as possible". Well, that's not about Larry's Birthday. But it's scary what could happen if certain people could live the games they are into.

communicating around the world on a keyboard, some through the air and some over a glass wire finer than a human hair, with phones that open like a Star Trek Communicator, animation that can appear real, flying in planes commercially without propellers, talking to each other and not caring the sex or the color or the religions beliefs of the person to whom we speak...

I don't know about you, but the only big thing I'm missing is my flying car....

He's twenty and doesn't drive a car nor taken driver's ed? Is there some reason for that?

That, and some form of air-avoidance radar and speed regulators that cannot be overriden...would you trust some teens and adults in a flying car (I'm an equal-opportunity bad-driver realist)?

I'm waiting on the rocket belt, myself.

Gets moderately complicated. He is really hesitant to try anything he doesn't think he'll excel at on the first try, which causes my buddy endless frustration, he's very immature for his age and lived with his mother most of his life (divorce when he was very young). He has a tendency to expect everyone else to dothings for him.

My nephew's 23, and as far as I know he still doesn't drive. Living in NYC there's just no need.
We had a lot of fun with a life long New Yorker who took a job at the Texas Memorial Museum. She suffered from quite a dose of culture shock when she discovered that just going to the grocery store demanded a drive of several miles and that using public transportation could burn up most of the day. It's a good thing she didn't end up working in Alpine at Sul Ross.

I have some familiarity with Da City, having been sentenced to a nine month yard overhaul in Brooklyn and generally only used my truck on weekends when I didn't have duty. Went to Vermont and New Hampshire a lot to hike and Pennysylvannia to go shooting. Enjoyed the restaraunts, bookstores, plays and museums but got tired of NYC pretty quickly.
