After a disastrous early season, Kimi "Iceman" Räikkönen just won in Sao Paolo, making him the Formula 1 World Champion, the 3rd Finn to do so.

BOOYAH!

Congrats to Raikkonnen. :)

I'm just relieved Hamilton didn't win it. I can't exactly pin point why, but Hamilton has always irritated me and what happened in Hungary didn't help any.

Well done, Kimi!

I'm sure the fine Italian engineering in his Ferrari was a big factor in his victory!

Yeah - when it worked. :)

I don't have anything against Hamilton, but after all that bad luck and McLaren's misconduct, Räikkönen deserved to win.

Hmmm... I never got into F-1 racing. The closest thing i'd say i'd watched was Indy racing... there cars kinda look the same. I'll have to check them out some time.

I believe there are more rules and regulations ("Formulas") in F-1 than Indy. Not sure, actually. I don't watch too much racing unless something's crashing. :P

To my knowledge, F1 is not very popular in the States, where I assume you're from.

There are a buttload of rules, and the penalties are steep. To be honest, I think F1 is not the most interesting motor sport. Usually not much happens during a race and barring any technical problems, very little happens in the top 3 formation during a race. And sometimes, there are races that make it worthwhile, like the one today.

Yeah that's where i'm from... I don't know how popular it is here. I see it on Speed TV and Espn 2 from time to time.

Isn't Formula 1 run sort of like a road rally? IIRC, the F1 race clips I've seen on TV sometimes run on courses set up on city streets, like Monte Carlo or other European cities. Or am I confusing it with some other class of racing? :errr:

I think that if we didn't have Indy cars, F-1 would probably be bigger here.

Of course, open-wheel racing has struggled ever since the CART-IRL schism. Although the CART/Champ Car series retained most of the top teams initially, as the IRL grew, many of the top teams have shifted to the IRL, including CART co-founder Roger Penske's team.

It's usually driven on dedicated race tracks around the world and, if I remember correctly, Monte Carlo is the only race driven on the streets.
