Thanks for the welcome. It's good to be here... I think. Which refers to the question of whether or not I'm here rather than whether the place itself is good. I attempted a couple posts yesterday which have still not appeared. I'm having a little trouble with the dynamics of a moderated board. I
suspect
it
means
discussions
happen
much,
much,
more
slowly.

Okay, two fast questions. Why did that just post instantly, when yesterday I got a comment like "moderator needs to approve message before it can be posted" and how can I edit an existing message?

I think Jer was in the process of getting your account approved. Not sure.
You can gain editing privileges once you accrue enough posts. :)

KiY
Sorry about that KiY,
Normally, when you register, the board software puts you in moderation automatically, and I have to manually get you out of it. I usually do it very quickly, within an hour or two, but when you signed up, I had been out all day at the Renaissance Festival with friends down by Houston, and so I didn't get to you in a very timely manner. My apologies. You're now able to post like everyone else, and once you hit 20 posts, you become a junior member, and then you can edit your own posts, as well.

...once you hit 20 posts, you become a junior member, and then you can edit your own posts, as well. I have to get through 13 more posts without committing a gaffe?
Have you seen my track record over at Z's forum? I'd have to say that 15 to 20% of my posts have been edited because of a dropped word or the like.
(Good thing I previewed. I nearly forgot the "at" in the paragraph posted above)

Greetings, everyone. After better than a month of lurking, I've finally decided to post something. As I told Jerridan in a PM a little earlier:
The story behind my handle is this: while reregistering on a forum (I had forgotten my password, and had changed email addresses, so I couldn't get a new one) I found that I couldn't think of a better username than my date of birth. After registering my birthdate as my username, it hit me; I had my birthdate, so why not Mr. Birthday? And that is the story.
Thanks to Jerridan for suggesting I post this here.

Welcome, KevinFlys, USAgirl19735, and Milan100! We've certainly had an influx of new members within the past few days! :D
Welcome to GJA everyone!
Just to let you all know. There appear to have been some apparent attempts on the board for an unknown reason. The most recent registrations over the last few days appear to be obviously false registrations. We are not sure what the intent is, but it may just be a spider robot trying to spam the board, which somehow has some human assistance in getting past the security systems. So far, we are seeing no damage to the board, but I am trying to see about the board upgrades in an attempt to stop this process.
Yeah; it's an issue the Elite Discussion is working on. Hopefully, we'll have a long-term solution shortly. For now, we're just deleting the accounts when they try to sell stuff. An annoyance, certainly, but we're more than able to stay on top of it.

*Woosh* That went over my head. :huh:A solicitor is an attorney who works directly with clients. The British system splits the profession into solicitors and barristers, who try cases before higher courts and seldom deal directly with clients to any great extent.

Hi,
I have some doubts about the profile. Is there an option to change my display name? and is there an option to delete the account? I'm asking this because there are these options on proboards forums.
About me. I'm not here to advertise my website and forum. I'll only post the links of my sites if someone does ask for it. And, I won't talk or use pics of my character, Bonnie.
About the KP DVDs. I know the KP season 1 DVD box was already released in Europe and season 2 will be release next month there. Does someone know when they will release (or not) the DVD box of the KP seasons in the others parts of the World?
Note. The DVD 'The Villains Files' of the Region 2 doesn't have as bonus the episode 'Showdown at the Crooked D'.

There is no option to change your name or delete your account on the bare bones vBulletin software we use here. However, these are options that are easily added on from modifications listed on the vBulletin website page. We just haven't found the need to add them into this forum. It's easy enough for that request to be done through an admin. But if there is a request for such features (or others), the governing members will consider it.
Also, you are free to talk moderately about your website and forum if you like, where you think it's appropriate, and are free to talk about or use pictures of your character, Bonnie. She is a valid KP topic, after all, but I appreciate your courtesy.:)

We've gone off topic before as long as we make it short and get back on quickly. I'll explain this here and then any further questions should shift over as a new topic in the KP forum.
As you may know, KP appears to be more popular in Germany than it is here in the US. With all due respect to elvisjj, I feel a large part of the reason season four came about was because of the German Syndication deal which was aimed at taking advantage of that better popularity. That's simply because money talks.
My feeling is that Disney and the German syndicate company felt that the risks of making a decent profit selling the box sets in Europe were worth taking, but not elsewhere where popularity of the series is not as strong outside Region 2. Whether or not that's the case is not at issue, I think, because that seems to be what those two outfits are thinking. As such, it would seem they thought it not necessary to market the DVD's anywhere else but in Region 2. I grant it's speculation to a degree, but it's logical. And of course, they are still going to use the region system to combat piracy. So we are stuck with region 2 disks.
However, there are ways around it. All DVD players have secret codes that enable you to change the region disks that they can play. There are lists out there that will give you those codes. The down side is that you can only change the code four times, and then it will freeze on whatever the last code change is, and that DVD player will only play that region from then on, period. Some people have taken to buying a second DVD player and setting it for region 2 disks and leaving it that way.
My solution is that I watch my box set DVD's on the computer, not my TV screen. (of course, I have a 30" Apple Cinema Display, so it's just as good as TV), and I use a program called DVDGhost ($39.95). This program lets your computer DVD player play any region DVD at any time permanently. There are some other similar programs out there, but they aren't free as far as I can tell.
Also, the box sets are only in full screen, not wide screen. Although KP was produced in full 1080i format, it was rendered down to SD format for all markets with the exception of Australia, I believe, because they had apparently made the switch to digital transmission ahead of other countries, and so the Australians got the benefit of the HD version of KP.
I may be a little fuzzy on the details, but I think this is correct.

No offence taken jeriddian especially when your completely RIGHT! Right on target there jeriddian and that's why the DVD's were released in Germany first over a North American release which is mostly unheard of, seeing North America is suppose to get everything first. But again we're going off topic but this is a topic we should talk about and I'm keen in creating it unless you'd like too. Cause the topic involves the very people who helped us get Season Four and that is Super RTL.
And again this site is really starting to grow with new members keep it up gang, as there's a link to this site at RS.net as well.

I think a lot of things have changed. It seems to be a lot less of an 'elitist' subculture here. I think that's what went wrong at ARA.
Please note that I am in no position to judge anyone, but receiving PMs such as the ones Phil Literate sent me before becoming banned from ARA were, to say the least, a bit alarming.
Comments such as "You were directly informed I could not concern myself with that thread, you have spat in the face of that and because I trusted you and you have flagrantly violated that trust I am now forced into a position so dangerous I may have to leave the fandom and possibly the Internet altogether because of your sickening conduct" are not only slanderous to me, ridiculous, and extremist, but a very immature statement.
The question I posed to the SaveDisneyShows group, when I believed the transcription to be over, was 'do you guys really think ARA is all that bad?' Keep in mind, I had no intention of unleashing Hell on the world. I certainly dislike conflict. Certainly.
Another shining example from this PM is "Over the course of your suspension for completely jeopardizing Erased Paper's, JonathonWolf's and my image, and forcing me to install even more antivirus software on my computer." Well, what about my image? Wasn't I a member as well?
I'm not here to badmouth ARA, I quite liked it...But I would certainly like to tell everyone why I dropped off the face of the earth for two years.

Welcome back, nachonaco,
It has indeed been a long time since you been around. I'm sure you've read our general announcement statements and have seen that we had similar reasons for leaving as well. As you can see, I went ahead and merged your thread into the intro thread, and yes, we certainly would be interested in hearing what's been going on with you over the last two years. We have always wanted the old ARA members to return to the fold, so to speak. After all, we consider the GJA, our new home, the continuation of what was good at the ARA, leaving the bad behind. So please be welcome and let us know how things are.:)

Well, first of all, I would like to know...
How many of you are actually angry with me? Phil Literate made it seem like quite a bit...
I would like to be reassured (I already assume so) that I am among friends, but then, I had thought so at ARA as well.
I am at university now and I ahve a boyfriend. We have been going out for 6 months now.

11-17-2008, 11:03 PM
Well, from what I understand, Phil didn't exactly tell the truth all the time. If anyone is angry at you, it is an individual concern only, and not a concern here at the GJA in general. Everyone starts out here at the GJA with a clean slate, no matter what, with the exception of EP. So please don't be worried about being here. We would like you to feel free and comfortable in your communications. After all, that was one of the goals we had in creating the GJA in the first place. :)

In answer to your question:

I, for one, am not angry with you. I was shocked and saddened by the circumstances surrounding your departure from the ARA, but you never did anything to offend me. So you can still consider me a friend.
In that case, I have:
*Stolen all your cars....
But you did refill our gas tanks and clean out the ashtrays before returning them, so we thank you (sorry about all the gum wrappers in mine....).
All kidding aside, it's good to hear from you again; and I'm glad your life seems to be on an even keel once more. I look forward to reading lots of posts from you, so don't be a stranger, OK?

I would like to be reassured (I already assume so) that I am among friends, but then, I had thought so at ARA as well.
I tend to be out of the loop on things, usually because of my own cluelessness, so I'm not even sure why Phil was angry -- so no worries, nachonaco. :)
I dimly remember several posters disappearing from the ARA without really questioning it -- I'd assumed their interests had changed, or life had changed. It wasn't until I was invited to GJA and read jeriddian's post greeting former ARA members that I learned what had really occurred.
I know from my perspective at least Phil could take things too personally; though I never received pms from him that were quite so negative as to you, one I did receive ended any thought of myself wasting time to debate/defend my POV.
Anywhoo... welcome to the GJA! :)

We use a rank system (http://www.globaljusticealliance.com/archives/thread97/index.htm) that encourages people to post more, because as you gain posts, you gain privileges. When you become a Junior Member (20 posts) you can edit your messages within 5 minutes of submission; "Member" status at 50 posts extends the editing time to an hour; "Regular" status at 100 posts extends editing time to 24 hours, and "Senior Member" status at 200 posts removes the editing constraints completely.
