We got some snow last night, then it turned to freezing rain and finally liquid rain. A lot of rain. I'm getting more water in my basement already, with more to come I'm sure. :dubiety: I also have a roof leak around my chimney; some paint started to fall off my ceiling because the gypsum board got wet.

I hope this isn't a residual problem from when that car smashed into your house last year.:errr::huh:

We have that problem with our below-ground garage. Water seeps through the cinderblocks and onto the floor pad when we get a lot of heavy rain. Thankfully, the basement is finished and sealed.

How much water do you get into your basement?

How much water do you get into your basement? We just get about a quarter inch or so. It actually comes up through the slab, usually in spring when a winter's worth of snow melts on the hill in front of my house and flows down toward the pond in back.

The annoying thing is this never happened the first few years we lived here, then we got part of the basement finished into living space, and suddenly it started happening almost annually. It takes about 3 weeks for the carpet to dry out.

Sorry to hear about your flooding issues, campy. We have an ongoing problem with leakage in our basement that happens during periods of heavy rain. Our problem is only water that seeps in through cracks in the walls of our back basement, and flows across the floor to the drain. It doesn't even reach a quarter-inch in depth, but the leaks are behind our washer and dryer, so we have to keep stuff off the floor between them and the floor drain whenever it rains too hard.
As for my day:
It was busier than I expected, due to a mailing project from Marketing. The girl working on it did not know how to efficiently fill a mail tub, so I had to deal with more tubs than would normally have been needed when running her stuff through the postage meter. Plus, I had issues with sealing and imprints (the sealing ish was solved by replacing the sponge on the sealer unit, while the imprint problem was addressed by cleaning the print heads), which added to my hectic day. However, I managed to get it all done, and even metered a bunch of stuff to go out tomorrow already.
After work, I took out the garbage (my turn this week - boy, do I hate doing that chore in winter...), then sat down to a dinner of chicken, stuffing, and cooked carrots. After dinner, I took a nice hot shower then dozed off in front of the TV for a while - woke up in time for "Kim Possible," however.

Well, seems like my fortress of immunity got stormed something fierce... Monday night, I wasn't feeling so hot, and I barely made it through my workday on Tuesday. After driving home through Deathstorm 2008 Part II (This Time, It's For Real!) for two hours (the trip normally takes 30 minutes), I found out that I had a fever of 102.7 degrees. I went straight to bed on Tuesday night.

Wednesday morning, I wake up, feeling markedly better, and down to 98.5 degrees. No freakin' joke! So, I made it through the workday just fine. I didn't push myself hard or anything, as I was a bit sore (I somehow managed to bang my right hip against something, what I don't know), but I pulled through all right. Just checked up on my temp a short while ago, and it was at 99.2, which all things considered, is a lot better than last night.

Of course, I probably should've been to bed a couple of hours ago, but I had to take care of my sister's dog - she's in Florida with her family, and my mother's taking care of the dog, but she's at work tonight.

Well originally my plan for yesterday was to work on actually writing my KP story for fanfiction.net. That wasn't meant to be as I was woken up yesterday by the sound of snow falling off the roof of the house and crashing in front of the door and all over the deck and piling up high enough to nearly reach the windows.

While I was expecting to do some shoveling the other day I wasn't planning on that much. Toss in some sleet and then some rain just to make the snow not only heavy but hard as a rock and I had lots of fun outside shoveling that mess for a good portion of the day. Woo hoo, extra hoo.

Now I'm writing. Thankfully the muse is with me, since I'm actually getting somewhere. Should be sleeping, but whatever...

And I will lock the thread at this point and start a new one.:)
