I've discovered the "joys" of working retail as a cashier at Target. We had soft opening last week and the grand opening was today. We're supposed to get a 15 minute break for every four hours of work, but I ended up working four hours straight until I got my 15. I then only had another 45 minutes to work. I worked eight hours four days in a row before that though...

Yeah, I've heard of that happening to cashiers, although that was mainly with WalMart workers.

The main page is becoming filled out. The web pages are slowly being attached to the site over time. Hopefully they will be all on by the end of the week. I guess this was just taking longer than I thought it would or the hosting company thought it would.

The main page items are slowly being fitted out. Pretty soon, I think we will be able to start linking the actual ARA archive threads to these threads.

What about the colors, guys? What do you think about them? They can be changed if needed.

I like the colors myself. They give the forum a "cool" feeling (as in temperature-wise) that I find appealing. One comment, though: Can we make the username and password boxes for logging in a little bigger, in order to double-check our spelling? I'm not comfortable with the name scrolling by, only partly visible, in a little window like we have here.

I'll check into it and see if that can be done. I'm pretty sure it can be.

Reminds me of a joke I once heard:
Q. How many bureaucrats does it take to change a light bulb?
A. Ten - one to do the job, and the other nine to fill out the paperwork! :p

So where was I? August has been eventful here after a quiet few months. We just had a new liner put into our swimming pool, but the weather promptly turned cool so nobody's been in it yet. Looks nice though. The old liner had leaked out about half its water, and what was left was a disgusting green. Somehow on Shego it works, but pool water ... not so much.

Then my 1990 minivan broke down, so rather than repair it we opted for something a little more this century. I now drive a 2004 Toyota Avalon XLS with all the luxury options*. I picked it up Monday and so far I love it. I have a Kim Possible figure dangling from my windshield wiper control.

Well, we've had three days at work with our new hire, and I'm pretty confident she'll work out quite well. She got her first taste of how hairy it can get today, and she pulled through quite well.

And as tough as it can get at work, I haven't been this optimistic in a long time.

It's just me (the eldest) with my brothers...boy things are already getting messy, but it could've been worse. Very lazy day- still on vacation.

A new med. student joined the lab, today. Since he still has to jump through all the administrative hoops he spent most of the day reading papers. I was sympathetic until he spent two hours carrying on a conversation immediately behind my desk.

Well, the work day is almost over, and I'm sneaking on... XD And it's a getaway day, too, since I'll be off tomorrow.

Training with the new hire has gone very, very well, and I'm extremely confident that there will be no issues with her tomorrow, when she'll get her first solo experience going through the building to deliver and pick up mail. There are a couple of things I've had to set up with my manager, though, regarding events that will occur tomorrow, and I just finished up with all of that, so we're in great shape. And, like it usually is, I'm in charge for the final hour, as he's gone home...

(This is also a test post, to see if my signature image is showing up... I haven't seen it show up yet, but I can see others' sig images just fine. If it works, a familiar-looking sign should be down there, that fits with my avatar and text sig...)

Well, it was an interesting end to the work day, as I ended up staying just a little late.

I was on my way out the door when a customer we had dealt with earlier in the day showed up. We'd printed out some stuff for him earlier, but as he found out, two pages were rather wrong. And it was one minor thing on each, but those "minor" things actually meant millions!

Even though our copycenter was all shut down, and would've taken at least 15 minutes to restart, I decided that it was more important to help him out. I found a faster way to do it, too... instead of firing up our copycenter, I took him upstairs, where he could set up his laptop to access the files he needed to correct, and I set him up with the network printers up there. The one big issue was that one of the pages that needed to be changed was on 11x17 paper (also known as Tabloid or Ledger paper). I was able to get the printer set up for him so that he could reprint that page, and he was ecstatic that I did this for him.

And that's what customer service is all about. Going that extra mile to give the customers what they want, even if it inconveniences me for a little bit (and it really wasn't all that much of an inconvenience - if anything, it let the traffic thin out a little bit!). And he's aware that this was a one-time deal, that it's not something he could normally expect to do - heck, if he'd been one minute later, I'd have been gone, and he probably would've ended up having to go to *shudder* Kinko's. But, since I was there, I took the opportunity. Because I want this customer coming back! I want this customer to tell his co-workers that we're the greatest thing ever! I want that business, dang it!!!

... although I'm glad I'm off tomorrow. XD And it's payday... ^_^

Yes; aren't those features great? :D Got 'em all on my 2005 Passat!
As for my day, well:
Three different people came in late yesterday with mailings that just had to go out today...one mailing went out in its entirety; the other two got two-thirds sent out (I'll finish mailing them tomorrow). We celebrated a co-worker's birthday today, so our boss bought lunch - the birthday girl's choice. She opted for deep-dish pizza - cheese, mushrooms, and spinach (it wasn't bad, either; I had two slices. Boy, was that filling...). This afternoon, after distributing the mail and frantically trying to get one of those "urgent" mailings done, I clocked out early to go to my 4 PM physical therapy session (I broke my left elbow in a fall on the ice March 6 of this year; been doing PT ever since I got the cast off March 28) only to be told not to leave the building due to a tornado warning in our area (Chicago area had a nasty bunch of thunderstorms blow through this afternoon and evening). When I finally left, I ended up taking 50 minutes to drive to therapy - a drive that normally takes about 25 or 30 minutes. Between the traffic lights that were out and the numerous detours I took around trees fallen in the roads, it was a rather interesting drive (in my entire life, I've never seen that many downed trees all at once). Just about every block, I saw at least one (if not more) trees blown over by the wind. Wow...
Anyway, my therapist and I discussed my follow-up visit to the doctor yesterday regarding my arm, and I'm going to be going in for PT only once a week now instead of three times. We're also going to concentrate more on weight training to build strength back up in the arm, complete with 3-pound dumbbells. We're also making changes in my home exercise routine to go along with the ones at the medical center. After a spaghetti dinner at home (I ate a lot of Italian food today! :P), I took a shower after the second wave of storms passed through, and now here I am on the forum!

Today I toured the White House. After waiting five months it was fairly anticlimactic. It turned out to be a self-guided tour of two floors, where you could peek into 4-5 rooms (2 others were closed for renovations), and walk through a dining room and a state room.

The worst thing was that cameras or recording equipment were prohibited. At first I took it in stride, but afterwards.... The area for the tours was so small and limited and I don't see the point of the restrictions.

The whole thing reminded me of touring a royal palace in Sweden, except Sweden was more interesting. :)

But yesterday, yesterday was quite the day. I finally got around to registering for Youmacon, and did a little scouting around for some stuff. I also picked up the tapes I'll be using for the marathon (brand-new tapes; I've never had any saved KP episodes, as they've been recorded on used tapes).

I also had a little side adventure, visiting a *ahem* "gentlemen's club*. My curiosity finally got the better of me, and so I went and stared at, err, female exhibitionists for a while. And, now that I've had time to reflect, it really wasn't all that great an experience.

In the old days I would have had to grin and bear it, or go to  AM, since there's nothing else worthwhile on the FM band here. Seriously, I'd rip off the tuner buttons and trash them were it not for the Boston and NYC stations I programmed for when I visit family. But today I just said "No, I will not call five four five zero one hundred, see you next week" and I tapped the CD button. Nonstop music from my new (to me) 6 disc changer.

And don't tell me I'm a freeloader. I gave them plenty of money back in the day, and I figure they owe me for putting up with All Things Considered practically every single day for a decade plus. That's more than anyone should have to endure.

Well, I had a crazy day. FedEx Custom Critical was supposedly to show up at 8 AM to pick up a shipment that had to be in suburban Columbus today, and they didn't show up until about 12:30. Then, around 1:30, we suffered a power failure. Not a total failure, as a few of the always-on lights remained on, and we didn't lose power on our workstations or copiers... but having to do stuff in the near-dark was definitely a bit more challenging.

Classes:

AP Physics B
AP US History
Latin III
Pottery 2
AP English Language
Pre-Cal

I'm kind of upset about upset about one part of my schedule. I have to go from pottery to room one... The farthest classroom from the pottery room. According to the Google satellite image it's about 1,000 feet away, assuming you went in a straight line (which may take you through a few walls). Which might not be so bad if 1) I had more than four minutes and 2) all of the classrooms didn't open to the outside, so I wouldn't be walking in the heat/rain/cold. Bah.

Spent the day up in Sacramento today... which was hot... REALLY hot! I noticed the temp was at 105 degrees around three this afternoon when I was out in the Elk Grove area. It also felt very humid, which only made matters worse.

Fortunately my time outside was rather limited; the rest of the day I spent downtown... sitting in an air conditioned building. Then I flew home... this time without my seat breaking! :P

Tomorrow, I'm going to Canada (Don't ask )...

I had a great day. I got up at six to get to school in time for my zero period (school starts at 7:10 for me, but I get out at about 1:15 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and that more than makes up for it). I like most of my classes so far this year, and it's a huge plus that tons of my friends are in a few of them (we're all nerds, so we wind up in all the Advanced Placement classes together). A recent fad for us is breaking out into song at school. On Tuesday at the end of US History we broke out into Bohemian Rhapsody, and today we did this song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0) We're planning on keeping it up. :D

Lousy day, internetwise. My internet and phone did not get turned on as promised, and AT&T does not have any service outside usual office hours So unfortunately, I can't razz then about until it until Monday. Then I tried a Tmobile at Starbuck's, and it was out for some blasted reason. This town is so backwards, it has no idea what an internet cafe is. Now I have to use my Motorola phone tools through my V3 razr phone, slow as molasses, and it'll cost me. Have to make this quick.

My Saturday was nice and relaxing, for the most part. I decided to have a Rocky marathon, and after that, I played mini-golf with my nephews. After that, I played back my recording of "Larry's Birthday".

Then I had an odd dream, where part of it was me watching Kim and Shego beat the living hell out of each other, ala Rocky vs. Apollo, and it was even set to Bill Conti's soundtrack! It was just plain weird.

Later in the afternoon, I went to pay my storage cubicle rent, then went to Borders to use a 25%-off coupon I got through my membership in their "Borders Rewards" program. I bought a new DVD (Peter O'Toole in The Lion In Winter), and a book on World War II. With the coupon, I paid less than $20.00 for both of them. After stopping at the local grocery store for some items, I went home and had bratwurst, potato salad, and corn on the cob for dinner. I think I'll stay up late and watch my new DVD. :D

jeriddian, are you moving to Midland permanently, or is this just more for the job out there? If so, stop by on the way out, and let's have a cuppa before you leave.

If you're moving, make sure you have a good, heavy coat: those 'blue northers' coming down from Canada will chill your bones to the max!

Also, if this is your first fall out there, you'll get to live 'Friday Night Lights' first-hand: the Midland/Odessa area is a 'bit' football crazy, in case you hadn't noticed, and this comes from a San Angelo native....

I did my laundry, ran a few errands, watched some TV; mostly I just stayed at home and did my sloth imitation.
However, when I cleaned my car's windshield today (the inside was rather dirty, and was reflecting sunlight whenever I drove sunward), I discovered that using newspaper instead of rags or paper towels when washing windows really works! It leaves almost no streaks on the glass, and it doesn't matter if there's newsprint ink on the paper - the ink doesn't rub off on the glass. My windshield got so clean, I could actually see the reflection of the top of the dashboard on the inside of the glass whenever I drove toward the sun. This'll come in handy when I clean the windows at home! :D

Stinks, but please don't let it get you down: if you know you're good, and others agree, it's only a matter of time before you get the chance to prove that you should have been in there earlier! Bide your time, and stay sharp: you'll have real fun when you get in and kick tail!

My laptop is 4 years old. Of course, I maxed it out when I bought it.:)

Yea. I need a new laptop... mine is about 3 years old and runs pitiful. I even put a new hard 100gb 7200Rpm hard drive in it and it still runs slow. Its a P4 2.66ghz with 512gbs ram... its not old old but its just worn out i guess. I like hp's new 17" laptops with core duo and 320 gigs of hard drive pardon me if i dont :dribble: over it.

Well, my hard drive was totally fragged in mid-2001, necessitating a replacement. At that time, I "upgraded" to WinME, and somehow, my PC managed to survive the experience. By 2004, I had upgraded to WinXP.

I currently have 512Mb of SD-RAM, about 40Gb total HD capacity (one 30Gb and one 10Gb), and a 600MHz processor. So, yeah, it's pretty old. (When I first got it, it only had 128Mb RAM and the hard drive that fragged itself was 15Gb.)

By the end of the year, I will definitely be upgrading... I do currently have a shell that can be made operational, that has a much better processor. It was a computer we used at work, but the original power supply died on us. Since we needed a computer right away, my boss simply went out and bought a replacement, and the DDR-RAM DIMMs in this one were taken out and placed in the new machine to increase its capacity. The HD was also taken out so that we could recover our data. We ultimately did get a replacement power supply, donated by a friend, and the machine still works; however, I still need DDR-RAM DIMMs.

And, right now, money's just a bit tight, and my spare money this pay period is going to gifts for my sister and my younger nephew (Sam's 7th birthday is on the 11th, and my sister's 36th is on the 13th). I got my sister the 3rd season of The Office - the special paper-box edition. ^_^

I've got a buddy I play Socom with that works for microsofts tech center up in DC and he told me he'd let me know when SP1 for vista comes out. Vista was nice like I said before as an OS but programs not working wasnt working for me.

Oil change... that reminds me of a nightmare-ish experience I had changeing mine. It ws my first time changing the oil in my new-used car, My brother owns a shop and some lifts, Yet here i am out back under the with nothing more then a jack stand holding it up on one side. After draining the oil I took the old oil filter of and put the new one on... after getting everything straight... or so i though... I took my car around front an was getting ready to leave when i heard a wierd sound.... sounded like i was draging a piece of chain link fence... a good friend of mine looked under the car and noticed i was spewing out oil.... turned out I didn't get the seal off the old oil filter off because someone didnt wipe the filters seal down with oil to keep it from sticking. I nearly lost all the oil... Synthetic at that. not to mention that would of been the end of my motor. So now i check every time to be sure I get the old seal before i put the filter on. It was almost a very costly error.:errr:

You know, that happened to me once when I changed the oil on my 1973 Buick Century. I didn't hear any noise when I drove it right after the oil change, but I noticed I was leaving a dark streak on the pavement when I looked in the rear view mirror. Fortunately, I discovered this problem right near my home, so I was able to get back OK before I lost too much oil.
Just like you, I discovered I'd left the old gasket on when I installed the new filter. After I fixed the problem, I had to borrow my dad's car to go and get more oil to replace what I'd left on the pavement...
And yes, after that, I checked to be sure the old gasket came off with the filter every time I changed my own oil, so don't feel bad, Cloud.
EDIT: BTW, nice sketch of Jessica, Cloud! You've definitely got a feel for the KP artistic style. Keep up the good work! :)

Same here with my Passat. There's so much "plumbing" under the hood, I even had trouble locating the turbocharger my car has. I finally asked one of the service guys when I had my oil changed (I let them do it this time... ;)), and he told me it's located on the passenger side of the engine. Sure enough, I found it, connected to the exhaust manifold. It was covered by a cylindrical shroud of some sort.

Very nice drawing, Cloud! I still have a ways to go before I get the style down, myself... it doesn't help that I don't practice drawing by hand nearly enough. (I'm mostly about the pixels these days, although I do still enjoy drawing.)

I had a decent afternoon with my nephew John. Sadly, the anime store in Ann Arbor, Wizzywig, had closed down their location on Liberty Street. It wasn't until I had the chance to get online much later that we found out that they'd actually moved - to State Road, south of I-94! That's quite a bit aways from downtown near the heart of the U-M campus.

Speaking of Michigan... err, actually, I'd rather not. At least the Oregon Ducks wore their least hideous uniform combination (white shirt, white pants) while drubbing the Wolverines...

John and I ended up spending a bit of time at Pinball Pete's. They've made some changes there since our last visit as well; the stairway to the Galleria has been removed, and in fact all access to the Galleria proper has been cut off. It's a bit cumbersome having to walk around everything, when you're used to being able to get to where you're going by going through the back door, but we got over it pretty quickly. Sadly, though, they did remove one of my favorite all-time arcade machines... Tron. But I got over that as well.

After we had dinner at Cici's Pizza, I took him home, and hung out there so that Bob and Jen could go out after Jen got off from work. I ended up putting John and Sam to bed. They also got a new dog this past week, a mutt named Socket; he's a pretty good dog, one year old and fairly well-trained already.

I got to play around a little bit more on my sister's new computer, but pretty much all I could do was play card games. I'm not quite used to the upgraded graphics and sounds - I'm used to the WinXP versions.

But, at least it seems they got a slightly better class of carnies to work the rides and stuff than in previous years... at the very least, they were all uniformed and looked somewhat respectable!

But today(/yesterday) was even better since this was the first day of my first dancing class. Finally, I can learn all these funny steps and figures and stunts. It's just total fun, something I really should have done in my school days.

As far as the NFL goes, I've sworn off watching the Lions, and I'll only tune them back in if they're over .500 at Thanksgiving. Hopefully I'll not have to witness, cause, or be the one to go through any clothing changes. Although our teacher did mention that a need to change clothes might occur in case of a chemical spill. I don't trust the other kids around me. Maybe I should've waited a year...

Today's classes were okay, Chemistry included. For the school newspaper, my previous Religion teacher suggested (last year) that I convert one of my essays to an article, so I took him up on that offer today. Hopefully he finds the changes good enough to put in the paper.

Volleyball practice was...boring, and a bit terrible. Everyone was distracted, ut I think that should be better by tomorrow.

I had chemistry last year. I only had one incident. We were heating hydrochloric acid in a test tube and mine exploded. Luckily, none of the glass hit me, the HCL was weak, and I was wearing gloves where most of it landed.

A different class had the cabinets catch on fire. And the building was a month old. Though to be fair, it probably wasn't the best idea to put wood cabinets over the lab tables.

I always had fun in chemistry class. when the teacher wsn't looking, I liked to slip pennies into the nitric acid and watch all the red nitric oxide smoke billow up.

Today was a long day at work. Lots of travel to different units. Then I came home and worked onthe computer. I had to trade out my secondary mirrored hard drives, which were Maxtor's, one of which had gone kaput on me, for a new pair of SeaGate Barracudas. That re-established my two hard drives in my unit (four individual drives, both mirrored in RAID1 setups). My coolant system is leaking just a little, so I had to order another hard drive cooler plate for my primary mirrored hard drives. It ought to be here on Monday. The leak is very slow though, and the coolant will last untl Monday. I also have more coolant coming in then.

I finally junked my McAfee Anti-virus. I don't know what it was doing, but it messed up my primary OS platform somehow ina coflict with SBC Yahoo DSL software. It's taken me forever to correct most of the problems, and it still isn't quite right. I loaded a copy of Zone Alarm, currently ranked by PCMag as the #2 recommended firewall/antovirus.

Once that's done I'm going to put a fresh copy of XP Pro on the secondary hard drives (both RAID1 systems are 300Gb capacity), and then use that OS platform to run my Pinnacle Software (video editing), Protools (music recording), and Finale (Music Writing), all done separately from my primary OS copy where I will do everything else. The extra capacity will allow me to download all of the KP episodes onto the secondary hard drives.

I can certainly feel for what Cloud went through with his HDD... back in '01, my drive went kablooey, taking out all my custom NHL 2001 stuff that I had made, as well as my picture collection, and a bunch of other stuff. Ever since then, I've made periodic backups of what I consider to be critical data, namely my various sprite sheets for my webcomic.

Silly me, though, that I didn't have backups of my completed strips; I had deleted a lot of the older ones off my drive to clear some room, without backing them up, and when the host company pulled the plug on our site altogether back in April, I was left without more than half of my series. Thankfully, one person had gone to the trouble to save all the older strips, so I was able to get them back online on my own webspace for the time being.

Back to the present, though... today was particularly rough at work. After finding out Monday that our new hire had quit last Tuesday while I was on vacation, things were stressful enough. But, today, another team member was out on vacation, and I had to fulfill the responsibilities of three job positions, which left me running around the building all freakin' day. I was too tired this evening to actually enjoy my time with my nephews (Wednesday being my older nephew's karate night, although today my brother-in-law was working on the outside of the house, so I kept an eye on both kids). And, I was too tired to get any work done on the computer, which means that I made no progress on my strips, nor on a request from a friend to make a bunch of Ron avatars for her.

I've had that happen - that usually means there's a broken connection in the cord itself (replacement time!:(); or either the plug on the headphone cord, or the headphone jack on your stereo, needs cleaning. (You can get a spray can of contact cleaner at Radio Shack that'll do the job.)
As to my day:
More of my usual: Metered outgoing mail, distributed the incoming stuff, etc., etc. I was only able to insert a small batch of my remaining outgoing invoices today because I had to leave work early for physical therapy. We also order out for Chinese food on Thursdays at work, but today I only got a pair of egg rolls - we had Chinese on Sunday after closing out the last art fair of the season for Mom (Yea! :) )
Also, my 23-year-old niece (my sister's youngest daughter) came over for dinner. She's living with her other grandmother in a nearby suburb while working full-time.

Yesterday (to tired to write directly afterwards) the big construction area, formerly known as the second floor of our house made a lot of progress, meaning that we can't heat the house before this afternoon, I'm afraid.
But it's warm and hopefully I'm going to spend the day at the local Games Workshop to get my high elves a little less colorless.
The fun part of yesterday was loading the junk (wood, other parts of walls, one door we won't need anymore) into a truck. I was the lucky idiot to collect the stuff off the ground and stuff them into the vehicle. Idiot because the guy who threw the parts down didn't shout "attention" before but while throwing. Luckily I only got hit by light debris before I realised that I had to stay away from the immediate impact area as long as he was up there.
Worked fine nevertheless.

Edit: Now I can write something about today, too: We don't have warm water at the time. I took my shower nevertheless. I feel warmer now.

The end of a busy weekend for me. Yesterday I helped my brother fix a couple of downspouts on our rain gutters, then I did my laundry (well, most of it anyway). I watched the Cubs lose the second game of their double-header against the Cardinals, then went up to my local tavern for a few drinks.
Got up this morning at 8:30 AM (after going to bed at 4:30 - not good!), and helped my brother with another work project. While he stripped and painted our garage door, I was putting chemical paint solvent on a bunch of metal letters from an old movie theater's marquee which we use to spell out "Merry Christmas - Happy New Year" on the front of our house each year during the holiday season. After soaking for about 30 minutes in this goop, the old red paint came right off. After they dry, my brother will sand the letters down and repaint them green for this coming season.
I finished my laundry, did some minor clean-up around the house, and watched the Cubs win today's ball game against the Cards. All in all, a productive week-end. :)

Careful with those solvents, the really good ones usually have rather unpleasant side effects (we used to use stuff like methyl ethel keytone and acetone to degrease things, it's a wonder we have livers).

Well, this solvent was apparently eco-friendly in that it cleaned up with soap and water. So maybe it was different from the ones lunchmeat mentioned. It had a strong odor, however, and I was only exposed to the fumes for about an hour or two. After about half an hour of working in the garage, my brother and I moved the table I was working on out into the driveway because of said fumes, so it wasn't too bad - the breeze pushed them away from me. I also wore thick rubber gloves and an old, long-sleeved flannel shirt while I handled the stuff.

Congratulations! I had braces when I was in high school, so I know exactly what you're talking about. And yes, the sharp edges of all those wires can cut your tongue (or jab the inside of your mouth) if you're not careful. Boy, did I hate my braces...

You mean the "gag reflex" made you throw up when he stuck the mold in your mouth? Yeah, that can happen if they're not careful. IIRC, it almost happened to me when they took my first impression all those years ago. Fortunately, I was able to resist the urge to "hurl" until the feeling passed.

The positive side effect of the whole dentist sitch is that I'm looking like some kind of hamster (just less hyperactive). Wait, that's the funny side effect. I never truly understood the thinking behind the letter system. #1 kid had it when she was in high school and they tried to convince me during one of those parent-teacher evenings that it was to get the students used to the way college is structured (this in a high school whose approach to college prep was minimal, to be generous). I was teaching college at the time and pointed out that we typically had 50 minute sessions MWF and 90 minute sessions TTh and that classes were either in on block or another with the exception of laboratories. I got that "cow standing in the field" look that administrative types typically assume when somebody isn't buying their program. This was about the same time that the school year was getting longer but had fewer contact hours and adjunct programs, such as field trips (they always seemed to have enough money for football and stadium renovations, if you've seen the movie Varsity Blues, it was filmed there) but higher pay for the administsators.

My phone line at home has been down for the last couple of days, and I just checked in with an update; it looks like it'll be the end of the week before we can get it back up and running.

My only complaint is that without the phone line, I have no Internet access at home at present; however, it does allow me to get some work done offline. In the meantime, I just have to satisfy myself with sneaking online at work, like right now (toward the end of the day, when it's typically slow).

I have 42 minute classes with 3 minutes in between and a 20 minute lunch. Our periods go like this:
Period 1
P. 2
P. 3
P.4-6 (42 minutes for all three, with 4-5 being lunch)
P.6-8 (same, with 7-8 as a lunch)
P.9-11 (same, with 10-11 lunch)
P.12
P.13
P.14
Yeah, it's odd.

We lost the volleyball game (both Varsity and JV) but the referes were not doing there jobs right-they miss called so much! And the last point of Varsity was a miss call-the other team served it and it landed out (I was right there), but the lines person (who was from the other team) called it in, so the Varsity team lost.

Then I got back to school for parent-teacher night and talked to a few teachers. My former Spanish teacher wanted to know about the game. My math teacher said hi. We saw our old Religion teacher and asked if we could ditch a Math class for Religion (at which point the math teacher arrived). He also wants to make me an editor of the school newspaper. Then my old English teacher told me that she saw a girl I knew in a pizza shop. It was all so random.

I've been reading up on the TGS (Tokyo Game Show) line-up... a buddy of mine said my wish may come true, but i'm not getting my hopes up. A title of Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII maybe the Remake of the orginal Final fantasy 7 I've been hoping for. Back in 2005 they used this particular game to an demo for the playstation 3... they denied any thing of this being the preview of a game though. I know people were hoping that it wasn't just a demo. Long story short I hoping this Endless Crisis is what I heard it maybe... it would make my... day? no...month? No... Year... yeah... i'd make my year!

My volleyball team won our first game today! It was great, and we have no practice tomorrow, meaning I can go to the school newspaper meeting.

The rest of the day-terrible. I almost had a good question in Religion, but then the teacher said no questions. I guess I'll ask my old Religion teacher.

English is so dead boring. You can only interpret a story so much until it becomes un-enjoyable.

Funny, though, Religion was not a course that was offered in the late '60's early '70's in public schools. Very anathema to do that at the time.

I go to a Catholic school, so Religion is mandatory. And, this year, boring as well.

Somehow I managed in the last few minutes to come up with a frame for a short story. Now...what to do with that...

To say the least.... i've had alot of bad luck things happen lately... But today things may change. I called the local union hall and they said they have started hiring shoreman. But right now these are people that worked for a ford plant that closed down. they haven't started hiring the priority people for the union (I'm one of them) that is family members of people that work for the terminal or the union. So things are finally looking up. But this is not over till the call me so i have to make myself a squeaky wheel and keep my name out there.:innocent:

About all I've really done today was sporadically clean the house, pick up the comic subscriptions I've been missing out on lately (Buffy Season Eight #7- awesome... gotta have Faith, ya know; Amazing Spider-Girl #12- also awesome; sad ending though; Birds of Prey #110- again, awesome). Oh, and there was a bought of playing through Final Fantasy X for the first time. Didn't really expect to hear John DiMaggio in two roles in the game. Heh, one of 'em he's blue, the other one he's technically partnered up with a woman who's rather scathing in regards to that character. Yeah, yeah, I know... coincidence, yes, but funny nonetheless.

Oh, and the developing relationship between Tidus and Yuna in the game is just too cute.

Other than that.. I finally just got around to rewriting Crossroads Over Time (soon to have a name change) to work with Graduations' ending instead of So the Drama's. Just took awhile to figure out how to make it work.

Editing part of a feature length film at my school this morning. Worked the afternoon in Guthrie, OK doing grip work for the same company that did the infamous Tornado commercial that was featured on the Daily Show a few months ago. Oh man... the humidity can kill any nice day in a instant. We were having some really nice days to... Mid to lower 70's as highs and the humidy was 30%-40%... but now with temps reaching the lower 80's and 80%-90% humidy and 70* dew points... makes for bad night. I'm trying to make this cold i've got as short as possible but things just dont seem to be working in my favor. A co-worker of my brother in law that works for an HVAC company came by to check out what was wrong... he said a transformer for the AC blew but thank God he can get the part tomorrow. I need to get a good night sleep tomorrow night cause i've got work and need to be on my toes sunday.

My day went well, although I alternated from trying to look busy to being busy, then back again. (They kept giving me stacks of mailings to send out that I could finish quickly, even with just one inserter working). I spent quite a bit of time at my office computer playing Solitaire and hoping my boss wouldn't catch me goofing off.
At least things are going better for me today than they were the last two days - Wednesday night, a Firefox update I downloaded wiped out my entire list of bookmarked websites, forcing me to spend most of that evening finding them again and building a new list. I was lucky; by opening my home page (which is a Google search page) and typing each letter of the alphabet in the search box, I got a drop-down list for that letter containing websites and search topics I'd entered recently. I was thus able to recover most (but not all) of my lost bookmarks. Last night, I took the precaution of copying all those websites to a list on a Word document in case this ever happens again.

Oh yes. One little story being rendered a total AU until further notice is a small price to pay for KP to go out with a rocking last season and one heckuva awesome last episode.

... Now I'm just left lost on making Crossroads Over Time fit in anymore. The main crux of the story was that Drakken, having beeing so utterly defeated in StD, fires Shego and retires (moving in with his mother no less). Ticked off over that and a certain incident at the end of StD, Shego goes after Kim for one last showdown... that doesn't end well for either of them (one physically, one mentally). Skip ahead twenty or so years to find Shego has done nothing with her life with Drakken gone... and then the good doctor calls her for one last shot at taking over the world.

Now I've just to account for Drakken needed an entirely different motivation for fading away, Shego for going after Kim like she does (STG and Graduation really don't leave her and Kim in a place where they absolutely abhore each other) and then there's Drakken's plant powers... Not to mention the ramifactions Ron's newfound MMP would have on the story (and his son).

... You know, I think it's all better left as an AU (or just delete it entirely; wouldn't be the first time I've gone and purged a story for no longer fitting in). Heck, the whole point of the fic I'm blabbing on and on about was to give Drakken and Shego a happy ending following So the Drama. Thanks to Graduation already giving them a happy ending, my story no longer serves a purpose. Besides... I'm sure I can have some fun whipping up an entirely new story post Graduation. Considering some of the people who were present at Drakken's little award ceremony... oh, the possibilities.

One thing I've learned is that it's always best to test an air conditioner before lugging it up from the basement. Nothing worse than bringing it, struggling to get the supports and then the AC itself into the window... only to find yourself uttering "It's dead, Jim."

If ever there was a time in life where I was seriously considering pulling a Kirk and screaming "Khan!" ... that was it.

I'm very disappointed this morning. I don't get to watch my Eagles against Army on TV today since I don't get ESPN Classic.

Oh well, it's probably just as well. They're 3 and 0, have beaten 2 of the 3 teams that beat them last season and both finalists for the ACC title; they're a 4 TD favorite and probably already have their minds on the Notre Dame game in a few weeks. Given all that, they are so headed for a fall this afternoon.

09-22-2007, 12:26 PM
The good news on your story is that just because they start liking each other at the end of graduation doesn't mean that Drakken can't foul it up later, he has something of a gift in that department. He could still trip over homself to such a degree that Shego feels she has to go correct it somehow.

Even though I'm really left-brained, I like English. I think it's interesting to figure out why authors write what/how they write. That, and most of our English classes are discussion-based. My school has some of the strangest people you'll meet. About 25-30 people showed up to the first DnD club meeting. And there are only 300 total students. So we have rather interesting discussions. I'm really not a fan of writing, though.

I did, however, go to the store to buy the Sunday papers, a can of shoestring potatoes (I love those), and some chicken breasts which my brother cooked on our gas grill for dinner tonight. I also made hotel reservations for two upcoming SF conventions I'll be attending in November. Yesterday, we had a birthday party for Sam (he turned 7 on the 11th, but there hadn't been a good time to schedule a party up until yesterday). My sister decided to hold it at Pump It Up (http://pumpitupparty.com/StoreHome.aspx?StoreID=143&PageName=StoreHome.aspx), which I'd never heard of until yesterday.
