Chapter 5: Something REALLY Bad Happens

The next day, Saturday, Kim and Quin were walking to Ron’s house to see if he wanted to go to Bueno Nacho with them.
“I hope that he’s okay. I mean, he hasn’t returned any of my calls last night.” Kim said as they rounded the corner.
“Hmm, that’s odd, because he should’ve been home. And he usually likes to talk to you.” Quin replied. They reached the front door to his house. Kim knocked gently.
Ron answered it. “Oh, hey, KP. *cough* Hey, Quin. What’s up?”
\\He’s acting like there’s nothing wrong. Who is he trying to kid?// Quin thought as Kim asked Ron if he wanted to join them at Bueno Nacho.
“Sure!” In reality, he wasn’t hungry at all, but he also wanted to get out of the house. \\As long as I keep it cool and don’t start a coughing fit, it might actually be fun.// he thought as he walked with Quin and Kim.
At Bueno Nacho, Kim and Quin were eating, but Ron didn’t touch his now cold naco. “Ron what’s wro --” Quin started, but was quickly cut off by the Kimmunicator beeping.
“What’s the sitch, Wade?” Kim said as she pulled the Kimmunicator out of her pocket.
“Drakken and Shego are at it again. They stole a highly top-secret laser from the Arabic Military. I need you go and infiltrate Drakken’s lair.” Wade took a sip from his soda.” I’ve set up a ride for you. It should be there in 3. 2. 1.” Outside the trio heard a jet’s engines blaring.
“C’mon, guys. Let’ s jet.” Kim said as she grabbed her backpack. Quin and a reluctant Ron followed her onto the jet.
(Drakken’s lair)
Kim, Ron and Quin were able to get in without being noticed - surprisingly. Ron kept coughing the whole time. “Ron,” Kim whispered, ”maybe you should’ve taken some cough syrup before we left.” Ron tried to stifle his coughs, but Shego still heard him.
“Come for a visit, Kimmie?” Shego sneered as she ignited her hands. Kim went into a fighting stance, ready for Shego to attack.
Shego leapt at Kim. Kim dodged her attack and countered with a blow to the stomach. Shego wheezed in pain as she got off of the floor. She charged at Kim again, locking into battle.
Quin and Ron decided to see if they could find a way to deactivate the laser, witch was aimed out the window, towards a close by village. “Okay,” Quin whispered to Ron, “I’ll look over here and you look over there. Got it?” Ron nodded, stifling another cough.
Both of them split up, Ron going right, and Quin going left.

Meanwhile, Kim and Shego were still battling it out. Kim almost had Shego cornered, when the Kimmunicator beeped. \\Uh-oh.// thought Kim, \\Just when I almost had Shego.// Kim dashed into corner before Shego got up and answered it. “So, what’s up, Wade?” Kim asked in a whisper.
“Well, I did that search you wanted me to, and I found out something serious about Ron.” Wade replied in a worried tone.
“What’s wrong with him?” Kim said, scared.
“He has lung cancer.” Wade replied.
“What?!” Kim practically shouted.
Unfortunately, that got Shego’s attention. She charged at Kim, knocking her to the ground. “Oof!” Kim grunted. Shego and Kim started to lock into serious combat. Kim was really upset that Ron had gotten lung cancer. And she dragged him along on the mission too! She felt a mix of anger and worry.

Quin kept looking all around a huge machine. She almost reached the control panel when Drakken stepped in front of her. “Going somewhere?” he sneered.
“Nowhere that’s any of your business.” She replied.
“You weren’t heading towards the control panel, now were you?” he asked evilly. Quin kicked him in the…uh…you know, where it really hurts. Drakken fell to the floor in the fetal position. Quin jumped over him and dashed to the control panel.
“Ron! I found it!” she shouted to him.
Ron dashed over as quickly as he could. But that was a big mistake. Once he got over there he started a major coughing fit. He coughed so hard that he started to cough up blood again. Quin looked at him with an expression of worry and disgust.
“R-Ron, are you okay?” she asked. Ron could only cough in return. “Stay here, I’m gonna go get Kim.”
She ran off towards the room the Kim and Shego where battling in. Once inside the room, Quin saw Shego and Kim roll past her in a blur of green, black, and red. She knew she had to get Kim, but with Shego there it was going to be tricky. She heard a crash and then saw a victorious Kim walk away from Shego, who was laying on the floor unconscious.
“Quin, what’s wrong?” Kim asked her.
“I-it’s, Ron. He ran over to help me and then he started to cough up blood.” Quin said in a low, scared voice.
“Well, I know the reason.” Kim said.
“What?”
“He has lung cancer.”
